In 1923, Shinjiro Torii visualized a whisky loaded with the spirit of Japanese nature and handmade by professionals by means of a patient process of enriching the work of nature.
He dreamt of making a slight, refined, yet perplexing whisky that would suit the refined palette of the Japanese and boost their dining experience.
Though at the beginning influenced by typical Scottish whisky, Torii conceptualized a Japanese method by picking a terrain and climate completely other from those of Scotland.
Torii chose the region of Yamazaki, on the border of Kyoto as the birthplace of Japanese whisky.
